The University of Munich is\u00a0Germany\u2019s sixth-oldest university in continuous operation.^{<\/sup>Originally established in\u00a0Ingolstadt\u00a0in 1472 by\u00a0Duke Ludwig IX of Bavaria-Landshut, the university was moved in 1800 to\u00a0Landshut\u00a0by\u00a0King Maximilian I of Bavaria\u00a0when Ingolstadt was threatened by the French, before being relocated to its present-day location in Munich in 1826 by\u00a0King Ludwig I of Bavaria. In 1802, the university was officially named\u00a0Ludwig-Maximilians-Universit\u00e4t<\/i>\u00a0by King Maximilian I of Bavaria in his as well as the university\u2019s original founder\u2019s honour<\/p>\n}

Candidates must hold a bachelor degree in medicine, pharmacy, natural sciences, psychology, social sciences, statistics, sport science, economics and business administration, law and communication science, or another health science-related discipline.
